Scullen Law Offices, PLLC was established by Michael T. Scullen in 2005. Mike is the sole owner of the firm and the sole attorney. With an office in Troy, the firm concentrates its practice in estate planning, estate administration and probate, trust administration, taxation, business law and real estate. These have been Mike’s practice areas throughout his entire legal career, starting in 1990 when he was employed as a law clerk while attending law school in Washington, DC.
The firm represents a wide variety of individuals and businesses throughout Oakland, Macomb and Wayne Counties and elsewhere in Michigan. In addition, Mike has also developed a growing cross-border practice which has resulted in the firm’s representation of clients throughout Ontario, Canada.
The cross-border aspect of the firm grew out of the reputation Mike earned in the Windsor, Canada legal and accounting communities as an expert in cross-border estate and tax planning. This has resulted in speaking engagements for groups such as the Windsor Estate Planning Council and an interview on Canadian public radio.
The firm’s objective is to provide our clients with practical and cost-effective advice and solutions for their legal and tax concerns while providing a level of personal service that is virtually unheard of in the legal profession – such as meeting with clients wherever/whenever is most convenient for them. The firm meets this objective through Mike’s experience, legal skills and knowledge, along with extensive use of technology and dedication to quality client communication.
By maintaining low overhead costs, the firm is able to offer high level legal services at extremely competitive rates in comparison with other area firms. The firm does not charge for initial consultations with prospective clients.
For estate planning work, the firm normally charges a fixed fee which is determined after the initial consultation with the client. The amount of this fixed fee depends on the complexity of the documents to be prepared.
For all other work, the firm normally charges on an hourly basis with invoices sent out at the end of each month.
